Image thumb broken in backend list for (mode: file, fileTypes: pdf)

I have this in my yaml file :

    attachment:
        label: Attachment (PDF)
        type: fileupload
        mode: file
        fileTypes: pdf
        comment: Optional - event brochure or details PDF

But at the backend in the event list the image thumb is broken

I thought the PDF icon would show up as the image - but the image is broken.

At least a link to the pdf file, but actual display is far from professional

So how do I specify an icon image to be displayed in the backend list view ?
